Let's Go Thrifting!! Hopium for Scenemos with No Cash
Every time you buy from Shein or Temu or whatever a sparkledog angel gets taken out back behind the barn at the great farm in the sky and is unceremoniously shot. It's true.
So, to prevent any more unnecessary casualties, I encourage you to try thrifting! For real though, I'm not here to tell you why you should be thrifting, there's enough people talking about it already. This blog is for the doomers and the complainers who know they should thrift, or even want to thrift, but don't think they'll find the goodies they so crave.
I'm mostly gonna talk about looking for scene stuff, because that's my wheelhouse, but obviously there's gonna be crossover with emo or the wider field of alternative styles.
My Thrifting Experience
I don't go to a lot of thrift stores. Fashion influencers will hop in their cars every week and spend a whole day hitting like 10 stores but I promise you don't have to do all that. Usually I do a thrift store run every two months or so. For years I was going to only one store on foot, now if I'm feeling really up to it I hit two in one day with the help of public transport. Neither of those stores are very big. And yet I've still found all kinds of good stuff!!
Shit I've Found (Cool Edition)
Miku models my gloves! She's not thrifted. Obvi. Anyway I found these two pairs of fingerless gloves together in a little bag! I like mixing and matching them :3
My prized possession: DEMONIAS!!! This is like the main reason I wanted to make this blog. Do not give up. They're out there. Mine are kind of in shitty condition but not shitty enough to put me off. Nothing's too far gone if you have a little punk spirit. See above: no one can even tell your Demonias are crusty with enough JPEG compression. ![]() Super cute Hello Kitty plush bag!! I had to replace a strap bc it was fraying, but it was well worthwhile! I couldn't find a perfect matching pink, but I like the half and half look. Forgive the boring photo, it's hard to get clean pics of big items in my little room lol. ![]() Harness! Admittedly not very scene, still a pretty awesome find!! Shoutout to my beautiful and shapely model, Reading Pillow With A Tshirt. |
![]() CHECK OUT THESE THREE COOL EPIC BELTS!!! I think I'm insanely lucky for finding all these...I also found a black pyramid stud belt once, but it had a weird clasp and an elastic part so I salvaged the studs for diys!! I made a cuff with some of them a few months ago! DIY blogpost coming soon? ![]() Very cute FOX belt buckle!!! The Avril Lavigne CD in the back isn't thrifted but I did get it for a dollar at a second hand music shop... ![]() "

Shit I've Found (Boring Edition)
Maybe the above doesn't look like a lot of stuff, and that's because I'm not gonna show you everything. Do you really wanna see like 4 pairs of black jeans??? Didn't think so. So here's a text list of basic stuff I've gotten that you might want to look for.
- Pants: I hate buying pants because sizing is a nightmare and thrift store try-on rooms (if they have any at all??) suck ass sometimes!! But worst case you can probably return them.
- Snapback hat: I'm pretty wary of buying hats because lice?? And all that forehead sweat...so I prefer to look out for ones with the og tags still on. I hit mine with some fabric markers so maybe you'll see it in my diy blogpost.
- Zip hoodies: I looooove these. If it's a little small you can style it very fem, and if it's a little big you can hide your entire body in it and go masc. I'm still searching for the elusive Zip Hoodie With Fur Trim but I'm probably gonna have to diy it.
- Flannels: They're like a dime a dozen (not literally). You can find any and every color, so they're a great way to expand the available colors in your wardrobe to match literally anything.
- Kandi/perler beads: Keep an eye out for big packs in the craft section!!
CONCLUSION: STOP BITCHING START THRIFTING!!!!
Now you know that the good stuff is out there...no more excuses!! Get out there and thrift! You have literally nothing to lose.
Anyway thanks for letting me brag about my cool stuff and be real patronizing about it...I'm passionate about this kinda thing...like comment and subscribe. Hoping to see you soon for my MCR concert blog!
